How to arrive:

Located on the coast of the state of Oaxaca at 227 km, descending the mountain range Sierra Madre del Sur from the capital city Oaxaca, or at 400 km arriving from the Istmo de Tehuantepec, and at 65 min of Mexico City by air, there is also a terrestrial and maritime access (at present only by private yacht), where the warm climate permits enjoying 356 sunny days a year, with only 40 rainy days, as well as an annual average of 28 degrees celsius, with an average of minimun 18 degrees celsius in wintertime and of 39 degrees celsius at the end of springtime and during summertime.

The intense beauty of the zone is the result of its location in the foothills of the Sierra Madre del Sur, which is the cause of its uneven topographie of mountains, slopes and valleys, decorated by the rivers Coyula, San Agustin and Copalita.

The fact that adds attraction to the zone is the surrounding by traditional ports like: Puerto Angel at 52 km, Puerto Escondido at 100 km, as well as picturesque villages like Santa Maria Huatulco at 30 km and Pochutla at 40 km of distance.

The Bays of Huatulco, in the state of Oaxaca, have of course 3 kind of access:

1) By air:
2) Terrestrial:
A) by private car
B) by long-distance passenger bus

By air, let’s start with departures of Mexico City, as it is the point where most of our turists are from, and neurological center of the Mexican Republic.

I) By Air we have following airlines::
Mexicana de Aviación, S.A. on behalf its branch Click Mexicana (http://www.clickmx.com)
Magnicharter (www.magnicharter.com.mx )
Viajes Liberación, (http://www.liberacion.com.mx) an enterprise of Charters that in reality takes the spaces of the two previous to transport their passengers.
Interjet (Toluca-Huatulco) (http://www.interjet.com.mx) The chipper airline. Toluca is almost 35 miles from Mexico City. It will beginning on June 18, 2008.
Viva Aerobus (Monterrey-Huatulco) (http://www.vivaaerobus.com) Very chip flight. It will beginning on June 15, 2008.

Click Mexicana has in addition departures of the airport of Toluca, in the state of Mexico, with even lower prices than departuring from the capital city. We recommend to buy by your web page on mondays, doing so you could probably benefit some price advantages.

The frequencies of the flights are quite variable, receiving a minimum of three flights a day, increasing thursdays and sundays, adding both airlines flying from Mexico City. In the high season the flights are increasing in a disproportional manner of course.

airlines flying from Mexico City. In the high season the flights are increasing in a disproportional manner of course.

Arrivig from Oaxaca, the only airline that flies regularly, is Aerotucán, departing usually at 8.30 am; sometimes, saturdays and sundays, they are leaving at around 2.30 pm. Please consult the exact itinerary directly with them..

Other international flights: in this winter season, for the people of North America, we would like to inform you that we count on arrivals of:: Sky Service , Allegiant, Continental, Republic Air, SunWing y USA 3000

We recommend to verify their itinerary consulting their web pages.

II) We have two main terrestrial ways

We have a departure by the highway to Puebla, (marked as number 1 on our map) highway Puebla-Oaxaca, (marked as number 2 on our map), and Oaxaca-Istmo (marked with the letter A on our map) on federal road. On this way, there is a diversion located 5 km before arriving to Tehuantepec, the transpeninsular road Tehuantepec-Salina Cruz of 25 kilometers, which saves you from a long strait full of rubs. The total distance of this journey is of 800 km. (11 hours of smooth driving).

Another way to arrive is by taking the shortcut Oaxaca-Pochutla, (marked with the letter B on our map) where you would save 120 kilometers, but find a very winding road with a lot of holes. Avoiding this road you would save half an hour of your journey and you could prevent the malaise as a consequence of the sharp curves in the mountains, but you would for sure miss some precious landscapes, especially in the highest part, known as San Jose del Pacifico, place we recommend to take a fresh break, trying typical food of Oaxaca, without missing the coffee of the height type Pluma.

The other departure is the highway from Mexico City to Acapulco, Guerrero, (marked as number 3 on our map) and from there taking the diversion to Pinotepa Nacional and Huatulco, on federal road. From this point there are 850 kilometers.

The most economical way is via Oaxaca and from there to Pochutla and Huatulco. The most recommended, is via Oaxaca to the Istmo.

b) We have three different long-distance bus lines:
Omnibus Cristobal Colon, Transportes Gacela (of Estrella Blanca) and Fletes y Pasajes. Their head offices are located in:

Omnibus Cristobal Colon: Tapo (its principal departure point and most recommended), Central de Autobuses del Norte Taxqueña: via Puebla, a journey of 16 hours

Estrella Blanca: Taxqueña: via Acapulco, a journey of 14 hours. It works too with an Executive Bus. Ask for it. (The best service to Huatulco). The departures is Central de Autobuses del Sur Taxqueña.

Fletes y Pasajes: Terminal Fypsa, Calle (Street) Norte 9 Esq. Oriente 180, Col. Moctezuma, 2a. Secc., Mexico City. Three blocks away from the airport metro, (Tel. 958 587 03 54): via airport, a journey of approximate 12 hours, via Oaxaca-Pochutla.

In this case we recommend the departure from the Tapo, by Cristobal Colon, even if this is the slowest one, it has the best busses in quality, hygiene and comfort. In the case of Fletes y Pasajes, it depends a lot of which kind of bus they are using, sometimes first-class the Marco Polo, and sometimes second-class serviced by some nasty brand, in addition its journey is via the mountain range Sierra Madre del Sur, with a lot of curves.

Departures of other places:
North of Mexico: Connecting to Mexico City on its appropriate way and from there following highway 1 or 3.

South-southeast: (Chiapas) Connecting to federal road 200 to exit at Tehuantepec. (Marked as number 4 on our map).

South-southeast and Carib: (Merida and Tabasco) (Marked as number 5 on our map).

Veracruz: Taking the highway to Mexico City. Arriving to La Tinaja, taking the diversion to Acayucan Veracruz, from there follow the trans-istmic road till 20 kilometers before La Ventosa, at approximate km 238, where a highway of 80 kilometers starts with direction to Huatulco. At the end of this highway there are 130 kilometers to Bahias de Huatulco, on federal road 200.

North of Mexico Let’s divide this part in three: Matamoros, Nuevo Laredo and Sonora (which includes the Northern part of Baja California):
Coming from Matamoros, take the way via Tampico-Veracruz, and from there follow the way pointed out previously.

Coming from Nuevo Laredo, take the way to Monterrey, San Luis Potosi and from there to Mexico City, then follow the way pointed out previously.

Coming from Sonora, take the way to Mazatlan, Guadalajara, Mexico City and then follow the way pointed out previously.

From other countries: Continental Airlines, Nova Air, Aerotucan, Aero Mar, Sky Service, USA 3000.
